We are currently looking to recruit basic grade and senior grade radiographers to join our team.

Below is a detailed job description:

Hours: 35 per week

Contract: Full time - permanent

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake diagnostic examinations as required.
  • Undertake the necessary training in the department to ensure the smooth delivery of the radiology service.
  • Ensure a high standard of patient care is maintained.
  • To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection, namely justification, optimization (ALARA) and dose constraints / limits are adhered to.
  • To be familiar with and adhere to SI No. 478 of 2002.
  • Embrace and support any changes in technology and to assist in the implementation and operation of these changes.
  • Responsibility for daily / weekly QA within the department.
  • Be familiar and comply with the radiology department guidelines and department protocols.
  • Perform clinical audits in order to identify areas for improvement within the department.
  • To take part in on-call services and extended working day as required.
  • Support the radiology services manager with new initiatives that are aimed at delivering the highest standards of patient care while adopting a cost consciences approach.
  • Be a team player who motivates, supports and engages fellow colleagues in delivering clinical excellence and personal care.
  • Assist and initiate new business opportunities.
  • Undertake, when necessary, administrative tasks to facilitate the smooth running of the department.
  • Report any incidents, near misses and defects in equipment to the radiology services manager.
  • Regularly update your knowledge of new developments and promote awareness of these amongst colleagues.

 Communication

  • Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Communicate in a manner that avoids antagonism, reduces conflict and prevents undue anxiety.
  • Recognise limitations and seek assistance where necessary.
  • Accept constructive advice when appropriate.
  • Engages with the department’s personal development plan.

General expectations

  • Adhere to human resource policies as set out in the Blackrock Clinic employee manual.
  • Cooperate and take part in the Blackrock Clinic mission statement in dealing with patients and clinic staff members.
  • Comply with policies and procedures at Blackrock Clinic as regards health and safety, accident and incident reporting, complaints procedure, fire policy and evacuation.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients and activities of Blackrock Clinic.
  • Present a professional appearance and conform to the dress, hygiene and infection control policies of the clinic.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
  • CORU Registration (received or in progress).
