Sunderland Royal Hospital has acquired four Toshiba Aplio 400 ultrasound scanners and a Xario 200 system.  Two Aplio 400 systems and the Xario 200 will be used in obstetrics, the third Aplio 400 for early pregnancy scanning and the fourth Aplio 400 will be used in the gynaecology outpatients department.

Antenatal services manager and midwife sonographer Janette Johnson commented: “We already have a long history of using Toshiba ultrasound equipment at Sunderland Royal Hospital.  These new machines have the high specifications we require to deliver the National Fetal Anomaly Screening programme and enable families to have a good screening experience due to the excellent images.  The company listens to staff on the ground and develops systems that enable staff to accomplish their role with minimum effort and maximum quality and control, which ultimately supports good quality patient care.”
