CT study day features live link to Israel

Delegates at the CT study day in Manchester.

Delegates attended a CT study day organised by Philips UKI held at The Lowry in Manchester, an arts venue set on the waterfront in the redeveloped Salford Quay.

CT superintendent radiographer at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, Sally Warren said: “It was an excellent study day, providing delegates with an insight into the future of CT on both a theoretical and practical level.  The wi-fi link to Haifa in Israel was a great innovation and use of modern technology; all the speakers gave talks of high quality and relevance.  It was a really well organised event in a great venue and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

Philips UKI CT business lead Colin Murray explained: “We wanted to give delegates a taste of the very latest in CT technology, particularly IQon and iMR.  IQon spectral CT is based on a fundamentally new spectral detector that can discriminate between x-ray photons of multiple high and low energies simultaneously.  This adds a new dimension to CT imaging, delivering not only anatomical information, but also the ability to characterise structures, based on their material make-up, within a single scan.”
