The Golden Jubilee National Hospital near Glasgow has purchased a Philips 3D xMatrix CX50 ultrasound system with transoesophageal probe for use in the cath lab.
Consultant anaesthetist Dr Niki Walker said: “We selected the CX50 because it is a small machine and space is at a premium in the cath lab. It is also multi-modality and can be used for vascular and thoracic studies, as well as transeosophageal echocardiography. We like the transoesophageal probe and we also benefit from the live 3D option, particularly with colour.”
