Staff at Newcastle General Hospital have been discovering the flexibility of SonoSite’s M-Turbo point-of-care ultrasound system. Since obtaining the system for use in the paediatric and adult intensive care units, it has been used for various applications in critical care, cardiology, anaesthesia and radiology.

Dr Alan Sweenie, consultant anaesthetist and intensivist, explained: “We have used SonoSite instruments for several years in intensive care, principally for line placement, and purchased the M-Turbo to extend our use of point-of-care ultrasound to include echocardiography, pleural and ascitic aspirations, and before performing percutaneous tracheostomies.”
