Applications are invited for an MRI research radiographer, based at The  Epilepsy Society MRI Unit at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire. The Epilepsy Society works in close collaboration with UCL and UCLH NHS Foundation Trust to provide the world’s foremost clinical and research site looking into the causes, prevention and treatment of epilepsy and its associated disorders. The MRI unit is equipped with a 3T GE Discovery 750 MRI scanner which undertakes both clinical and research scans including functional MR imaging.

The post holder will join a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers using a wide variety of MRI techniques, including advanced methods such as DTI, MTR, ASL and fMRI, and will receive training in post processing the clinical functional images and image interpretation. There will also be opportunities to contribute to data analysis and MRI protocol development. The post holder will have frequent interaction with a range of staff, patients and healthy volunteers and will be required to work independently at times but with the presence of a suitably qualified second person, and may occasionally be asked to work at weekends. Appropriate honorary contracts will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust and the Epilepsy Society, for which a DBS check will be required. The post is full-time in principle, but may also be held on a part-time basis (minimum 0.6 fte).

Applicants must hold the Diploma of the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic) or a BSc in Radiography, or equivalent qualification, be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and have post-qualification MRI experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, good inter-personal skills, a very high level of care and consideration for patients and research subjects, and an interest in research are also required. Postgraduate qualifications in MRI are desirable.

The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant from the Epilepsy Society to November 30, 2024 in the first instance. Starting salary on UCL Grade 7 in the range £36,770 to £44,388 per annum including London Allowance (pro rata if part-time), superannuable.
