Position title
Radiographic assistant
Organisation

University of Sheffield

Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced radiographic assistant to take up a two-year, fixed-term, full-time post within our multidisciplinary team in the University of Sheffield MRI unit. It is expected that the successful candidate will have some previous experience in a healthcare environment and ideally within an MRI or imaging department. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team at the cutting-edge of MRI research and to assist with our internationally renowned lung imaging.

The University of Sheffield MRI unit currently operates three MRI scanners: two GE 1.5T systems and one GE 3.0T PETMR based across two sites at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. We plan to install a GE 1.5T Artist wide bore system towards the end of the year. We carry out internationally recognised research in the fields of pulmonary vascular imaging, lung imaging with the use of hyperpolarised agents as well as neuro research imaging (including functional MRI) and in utero fetal imaging. The unit also performs clinical MRI scans in partnership with the NHS.

The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, radiographers, clinicians, physiologists, MR physicists and engineers and will be expected to support all activities within the MRI unit.

It is important that you have a flexible attitude to work and are able to make a meaningful contribution to the research work of the team. You should also have an up-to-date knowledge of basic life support, manual handling procedures and a working knowledge of MR safety.

The role is 35 hours per week as per University of Sheffield contracts and is generally spread over four extended working days with an expectation for occasional evening work.
