Position title
Specialist cardiac / interventional radiographer

University of Oxford

Division of cardiovascular medicine

Radcliffe department of medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented cardiac/interventional radiographer to take on a key role in the running of a research/clinical facility, The Acute Vascular Imaging Centre (AVIC). The internationally unique centre will include a hybrid unit combining a cardiac catheterisation lab integrated with a state-of-the-art ultra high resolution CT scanner. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting prototype technologies (hardware and software), and contribute to cutting-edge scientific projects of the University of Oxford. The senior radiographer, while being an employee of the University of Oxford, will also be involved in the provision of a highly patient orientated, clinical service for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We require someone who will enjoy working in a friendly, cutting-edge environment performing advanced procedures (using clinical and research techniques) as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, nurses and physiologists spanning ‘both’ University of Oxford and NHS departments. Due to the expansion of both the clinical and research service, a flexible approach to weekend and evening work will be required. The postholder will be expected to run catheterisation/interventional lists but will also have the option to participate in the cardiac CT service (clinical and research).

As the cardiac/interventional radiographer you will undertake, without immediate supervision, a full range of diagnostic interventional and cardiac procedures and if interested undertake a range of CT scan procedures and demonstrate use of effective and compassionate communication skills when dealing with patients and their families and to promote effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary team.

You will be required to hold a BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent in diagnostic radiography with substantial experience in cardiac/interventional radiography and show evidence of continuing professional development. Experience of basic computer software used in research (Excel, Word) would be desirable.

This is a full-time appointment on a fixed-term contract for one year funded by NIHR Oxford BRC and you will be based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online; you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement which explains how you meet the selection criteria for the post.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on January 20, 2021 can be considered. Interviews are scheduled to take place at the start of December.

The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
