The imaging department at BMI Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford celebrated World Radiography Day by welcoming a new gamma camera, the latest addition to a state-of-the-art suite. The Siemens Symbia S 5.0T gamma camera arrived on the back of an HGV, following a journey from Germany through the Channel Tunnel.
The arrival of the equipment will mean the hospital can offer a nuclear medicine service covering general NM studies, oncology, cardiology and neurology.
Hospital executive director Eileen Scrase said: “The hospital will be able to more efficiently meet growing patient demand, further expedite waiting times and provide a more convenient service.”
