New Cross future-proofs with MRI scanner

New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton has equipped its recently opened urgent and emergency care centre with an Ingenia 1.5T MRI scanner, a Brilliance CT system, three DigitalDiagnost x-ray rooms and a Sparq ultrasound scanner, all from Philips UKI.  All the systems incorporate state-of-the-art features and software and the Ingenia 1.5T MRI comes with the mDIXON FFE imaging method.  This technique ensures that the fat saturation is optimised, robust and uniform across the entire selected field of view.

Radiology group manager Stuart Simper said: “This is the third Ingenia magnet purchased from Philips and has enabled the trust to increase its capacity for MRI and also to expand its cardiac services.  Having an MRI scanner will future-proof the centre as, moving forwards, MRI examinations may be required for more acute imaging such as for a fractured scaphoid.  In addition, it complements the installed base as all the MRI scanners in the trust are now on the same platform.”
