Patient self-referral

A new service in Suffolk enables patients to make self-referrals for MRI examinations, the first service of its kind in the UK. The Nuffield Hospital Ipswich is partnering InHealth to enable patients to refer themselves for an MRI scan of the lower back.

Consultant radiologist Dr Simon Smith commented: “This new direct access service puts the patient in control and allows an earlier diagnosis.”
