A Dayhawk remote reporting service was formally launched at UKRC recently in Manchester.

On the Medica stand, Dr Andy Bacon, associate director of commercial reform and reconfigurations at NHS North West, cut a ribbon to launch a radiology service that is intended to provide a safety net for hard-pressed hospitals.

Dr Bacon, who the following day presented a paper entitled Commissioning effective imaging services, was joined on the stand by Medica chief executive Simon Rasalingham, chief operating officer Bob Harper, Medica staff and UKRC delegates.

Dayhawk is described as a remote on-call emergency reporting service that provides ultra-fast turnround. Part of Medica’s nationwide network of remote radiology reporting services, it offers support for NHS Acute Trusts and the National Stroke Strategy.
