Excerpt: Orthopaedic oncology is the management of musculoskeletal tumours using a plethora of techniques aimed at improving survival rate and enhancing quality of life for patients. Orthopaedic oncology interventional services are a branch of interventional radiology that are integral to diagnosis and management, using image-guided minimally invasive procedures. Interventional services play an essential role in oncology management along with radiotherapy, surgical and medical oncology in the care of cancer patients. These interventional procedures can be performed using image guidance (fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT and, in some cases, MRI).
