Excerpt:

There are two cardiac MR (CMR) techniques available for the functional assessment of coronary artery disease – adenosine perfusion CMR and dobutamine stress CMR. There is increasing interest in and use of these techniques due to the high image quality and reliable and accurate diagnostic information they provide. These are used according to national guidelines to investigate patients with chest pain that are at intermediate risk of coronary artery disease and can also be used as a means of determining whether a lesion identified at angiography is functionally significant and warrants intervention or surgery.
