Sports foundation will enable athletes to learn

With athletes from the Tessa Sanderson Foundation is Toshiba Medical Systems director commercial solutions Ian Watson (back row, second left), commercial solutions manager Joe Vincent (second from right) and managing director Mark Hitchman.  In front, with a TSFA athlete are Homerton University Hospital’s Dr Peter Resteghini and Tessa Sanderson, CBE.

A formal partnership between the Tessa Sanderson Foundation and Academy (TSFA), Homerton University Hospital and the Sir Ludwig Guttmann Health and Wellbeing Centre will allow sports injury and MSK specialists from two renowned centres of sports medicine to use state-of-the-art technology to manage athletes’ health and wellbeing.

Leader of Homerton University Hospital MSK clinic Dr Peter Resteghini and his team will help the foundation manage medical health initiatives using Toshiba Medical Systems’ Aplio 500 ultrasound scanner.  Homerton will provide the foundation with a one-stop service for sports injuries and MSK problems.  A specialist team at Homerton Hospital and Sir Ludwig Guttmann Health and Wellbeing Centre will assess and treat sports injuries and MSK problems.

Tessa Sanderson CBE said: “Our original partnership with Toshiba Medical Systems gave us a unique opportunity to explore the capabilities of medical imaging in our foundation environment.  Now, with a fully developed partnership, we’re able to treat athletes quickly and effectively, as well enable them to learn about sports medicine and science by giving them opportunities to learn about how the body performs during exercise and heals after injury.”
