Nicholas Owen with St Anthony’s Hospital staff.
TV newsreader Nicholas Owen unveiled the cardiac cath lab at St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, Surrey, and said at the opening: “It’s a real privilege to come here and see what you do at St Anthony’s Hospital. When you enter the hospital, you can sense the atmosphere in a few minutes.”
The equipment, a Toshiba Infinix interventional x-ray system, is said to be highly manoeuvrable, enabling head-to-toe imaging without the need to move the patient.
Consultant cardiologist Dr Charles Pumphrey said: “This Infinix system has the latest technology, allowing for even the smallest blood vessels to be captured in high quality, which helps the speed and accuracy of diagnosis. I am delighted that St Anthony’s Hospital has the most modern technology to undertake increasingly complex procedures.”
