At the launch of the research award are Steve Holmes of Siemens, Andy Rogers of BIR, Peter Harrison of Siemens and David Wilson of BIR.

This year’s UKRC in Manchester saw the BIR and Siemens launch a new research award to provide supports to researchers in the fields of radiology, radiotherapy, oncology, radiography or medical physics.

The BIR Siemens Research Award, in memory of British radiology pioneer Sir James Mackenzie Davidson, will provide £1,000 initial financial support to help researchers to develop proposals with the aim of attracting further funding from external sources.

Siemens Healthcare managing director Peter Harrison said: “We are delighted to collaborate in this award that aims to assist medical imaging researchers in the vital initial development stage of a research proposal.”
