Following an £800,000 investment, Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield has a new mammography suite featuring a mammography machine and Brevera breast biopsy system. Designed as a dual-purpose facility, this flexible set-up allows the hospital to maximise use of clinical space, reduce procedure time and improve overall patient experience.

The mammography machine has a comfort-focused design, helping make the experience more positive for patients. Due to the equipment’s high resolution images, clinicians can diagnose and treat a range of conditions with greater accuracy and efficiency.

The Hologic Brevera system is used to perform minimally invasive breast biopsies. It combines imaging, tissue sampling and verification in a single procedure, making the biopsy quicker and more accurate. By simplifying the process, it can help patients feel more comfortable and allows consultants to provide faster, more precise diagnoses. The new mammography suite is part of an ongoing investment project in the hospital’s imaging department.

Hospital director Vicky Morris said: “We know that coming in for a scan can be a worrying time for people. But, knowing they can be seen quickly, be scanned by the latest technology available and then receive a quick diagnosis – this is what people need and we’re pleased to be delivering that.”
