Southend radiotherapy meets best practice standards

The department of radiotherapy and radiotherapy physics at Southend University Hospital has been accredited by CHKS for its processes and standards which meet international best practice standards.  CHKS is a provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services.

This accreditation means that the services are safe, reliable and of good quality, and also meet the high standards required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Head of radiotherapy James Green said: “We want to ensure that our patients receive world class radiotherapy treatment and this shows that we absolutely deliver that to our patients.

“While our existing ISO accreditation ensures the quality of the radiotherapy treatment itself, this extended accreditation which includes CQC level compliance, ensures that the whole patient experience, from door to door, is at the highest level possible.”
