Patient experience improves following upgrade

Gloucestershire Royal Hospital has upgraded its interventional suite from a Philips Integris system to an AlluraClarity IQ with cardiac capability from Philips UKI.

Lead radiographer Linda Bevan said: “The Philips Clarity system is a state-of-the-art interventional radiology room that has replaced an older Philips interventional system.  The image quality and usability of the previous machine was always excellent, which is why we chose to upgrade to a newer version of the system.

“The use of interventional radiology to diagnose and treat patient conditions often avoids invasive operative procedures and also provides the opportunity, in many cases, to diagnose a problem and follow on straightaway with treatment of the condition without the need for additional appointments.  Patients can often attend as day cases and may even only have to wait for one hour in department post-procedure, which is obviously a much-improved patient experience from a hospital stay.”
