Hands-off approach to echocardiography can reduce work-related pain for sonographers

News

ProbeFix offers hands-free measurement during stress echocardiography.

Medical device distributor Mermaid Medical reports that many studies show that the majority of sonographers are scanning in pain and experiencing work-related musculoskeletal disorders caused by repetitive movements, poor body posture and intense pressure.  Medtech start-up Usono, from the Netherlands offers ProbeFix, an ultrasound accessory tool that provides lengthy and stable fixation of a cardiac probe to the body.  The device facilitates hands-off workflow, continuous measurement and improved reproducibility of the ultrasound image.  These features make it suited for stress echocardiographic procedures, as shown in a study by cardiologists at UMC Utrecht, the Netherlands.  ProbeFix ensures that the images stay consistent during and after the increased stress level.  Available in the UK through Mermaid Medical, it can enhance workflow, especially with 3D probes that allow digital rotation.
