Parkside Hospital launches digital breast tomosynthesis service

Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon has installed a 3Dimensions mammography system from Hologic that enables high resolution breast tomosynthesis. The hospital provides a comprehensive service, with dedicated one-stop breast clinics and a surgical service employing triple assessment techniques for cancer diagnosis. With the addition of the Affirm breast biopsy guidance system and the Affirm lateral arm upright biopsy accessory, the team can undertake stereotactic guided breast biopsy and tomosynthesis biopsy from either a standard or lateral needle approach.
Head of radiology Hannalie de Beer said: “We look forward to launching contrast-enhanced mammography this year, with the Hologic I-View software. This will provide us with additional information beyond a normal mammogram.”
