Composite DICOM image for measurement of femoral and tibial angle of torsions
The accurate measurement of tibial and femoral angles of torsion plays an important role in evaluating torsional deformities of the lower limbs. Quantifying the severity of abnormal bone rotation helps guide treatment decisions, including the potential need for derotational osteotomy procedures.
Currently, CT is considered the gold standard for measuring torsional angles related to deformities of the femur and tibia. With appropriate software tools, reporting radiologists overlay CT images at two different levels and measure the torsional angle.
