Esaote Open MRI at Ilkeston CDC

The new community diagnostic centre (CDC) at Ilkeston Community Hospital is designed to deliver approximately 97,000 tests annually, helping to reduce waiting times and improve patient experience through state-of-the-art imaging services, including the latest in open MRI technology.

As part of this commitment to enhancing diagnostic capabilities, the CDC features the Magnifico Open MRI system supplied by Esaote. Unlike traditional closed MRI scanners, Magnifico offers a more open and patient-friendly design, helping reduce anxiety for claustrophobic patients and improve accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges. The system delivers high quality MSK imaging to enable efficient diagnoses while enhancing patient comfort.

The CDC is part of a wider initiative by the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust to bring diagnostic testing closer to communities, reducing travel time for patients and alleviating pressure on hospital services. By integrating technologies such as Esaote’s open MRI, the CDC is improving healthcare access and efficiency for patients in Ilkeston and beyond.
