Glenrothes Hospital in eastern Scotland has replaced its ageing x-ray room with an FDR Visionary Suite, Fujifilm Healthcare’s digital x-ray room. The new system will be used for GP referrals, ward patients and outpatient appointments.

The hospital is part of NHS Fife, within which there were already 10 Fujifilm Healthcare x-ray rooms installed across St Andrews, Queen Margaret and Victoria hospitals, making the new system familiar to radiographers working across the sites. The installation process was completed in five weeks.

The FDR Visionary Suite is equipped with an auto-positioning function that automatically moves the x-ray tube into the required position, while the fully digital capabilities have streamlined the entire process. With no need to handle or move CR cassettes, radiographer workflow is said to be faster and more efficient.

NHS Fife reporting radiographer Fiona Hellicar commented: “It felt like a natural decision to upgrade our x-ray room with Fujifilm. It is always at the forefront of our minds when we think about upgrades and installations. The applications team have been great in delivering training – they are incredibly knowledgeable.

“The features on the suite allow the team to focus on two key things: the actual x-ray image and the patient,” Hellicar continued. “We no longer have to worry about the strenuous tasks involved in traditional x-ray processes, as the fully digital set-up makes everything much more straightforward.”
