Affidea has opened its flagship neuraCare Centre in Athens, Greece, marking the first step in a planned rollout of a European network of centres of excellence in neurology. The provider of advanced diagnostics and community-based polyclinics says it is responding to the need for more integrated, innovative and patient-focused care, as the number of some neurological disorders rise sharply. Chair of the management board and group CEO Guy Blomfield said: “We have built a multidisciplinary model that brings world-class physicians, advanced technology and clinical research together to improve outcomes and patient experience.”

Affidea neuraCare uses state-of-the-art technologies, novel tracers, digital innovations and clinical expertise in a combination designed for earlier and more precise diagnoses, more effective treatment and improved long-term follow-up, while also expanding patient access across Europe. Therapies include neuropsychology, neurological botox, digital and wearable-enabled monitoring and continuous cognitive assessment. Imaging equipment includes the GE HealthCare’s Omni Legend PETCT and Signa Hero 3T MRI systems.

The Athens centre is the model for the network’s expansion, with planned locations facility including Warsaw and London. An early milestone will be the implementation of a clinical protocol study at the centre, evaluating the use of novel tracers to strengthen the accuracy of dementia diagnosis.
