Malton extends range of examinations

Toshiba ultrasound specialist Karen Michaels with advanced ultrasound practitioners Shirley Raw and Lucy Graham.

Malton Community Hospital’s league of friends raised the funds to purchase a Toshiba Aplio MX, a replacement for a previous scanner that had reached the end of its working life.  The hospital is part of York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The equipment update will allow the ultrasound department to offer a wide variety of examinations, with the potential to expand the service in the future.  It comes with a number of probes and a slave monitor for obstetric patients to watch while being scanned.

Advanced ultrasound practitioner Lucy Graham said: “We are delighted with the machine; the superior image quality and ergonomic design are fantastic.   We have also received excellent applications support from Toshiba.”
