Local fundraisers dug deep to provide the funding for a Toshiba Aplio 300 ultrasound scanner for Ledbury Community Hospital.  Unveiling the scanner and demonstrating it at the opening, junior registrar rheumatologist Dr Ilfita Sahbudin thanked the Friends of Ledbury Hospital for raising the money, adding: “Ledbury is very lucky to have the scanner, which is state-of-the-art.”

A key supporter of the campaign to obtain a high end ultrasound system, Dr Sahbudin will use the equipment in clinics and research to help with the understanding and early diagnosis of rheumatic disease.  She added: “The old scanner has gone to Hereford County Hospital, leaving Ledbury with a new scanner that generates faster and clearer images for a variety of scans, from gall bladder, kidney stone and gout diagnostics through to bladder and ovarian scans.”
