Hybrid PET/CT additions extend research and clinical services

At Royal Marsden Hosptal are deputy service lead Adam Oxer, physicist Jonathan Gear, chief technologist Kelly Marshman, deputy director for clinical services Bernadette Cronin and Siemens Healthcare regional sales manager Malcolm Pickering.

Increasing demand for its clinical services has led the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton to install two hybrid PET/CT systems from Siemens Healthcare.

The fully integrated Biograph mCT imaging systems will enable the hospital to support effective throughput of patients, alongside conducting its radiopharmaceutical research and novel tracer development in partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research.

“We chose the Biograph mCT following a thorough appraisal of all available systems on the market,” said deputy director for clinical services Bernadette Cronin. “It is a fantastic imaging resource for our clinical and research teams and, due to its dual functionality, it can be used as a molecular CT or standalone CT scanner when required.”
