Respiratory unit makes daily use of mobile ultrasound

Gartnavel General Hospital, part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, is using its recently acquired Philips Sparq ultrasound system on a daily basis in its respiratory unit, as respiratory consultant the the Scottish pulmonary vascular unit Dr Martin Johnson explained: “We selected the Philips machine because of its versatile and intuitive user interface, quality of the images and ease of use.

“It is employed on a daily basis at the bedside in the respiratory ward to perform thoracic ultrasound and occasionally to assist in the placement of central venous catheters.  It has proved very manoeuvrable in tight corners.  It has certainly lived up to our expectations.”
