Minister for Health hails positive developments

Minister for Health in Ireland Leo Varadkar with GE Healthcare general manager for northern Europe Karl Blight.
Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital has opened a state-of-the-art cardiac intervention facility, representing a 2.2m investment. Minister for Health in Ireland Leo Varadkar was present at the opening and said: “It shows that even though funding available to our health service is tight, there are lots of positive developments happening and we should acknowledge them too. This facility has increased capacity for cardiological interventions in the region that can be ramped up further in future years.”
The development of the facility, which included the refurbishment of an existing unit more than 12 years old, is centred on two GE Healthcare Innova IGS 520 and ComboLab systems for cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures. DoseWatch has been installed to retrieve, track and report the radiation dose administered to patients during medical examinations and automatically organise data so that dose provision can be managed by hospital leaders.
