A true two-in-one for mammography

Senior radiographers (standing) are Maria Maddison and Moyra Hillam with superintendent radiographer Mildred Richardson, Southern Scientific’s Steve Adams and Clare Kavalieris and consultant radiologist Dr George Bunea.

The radiology and breast imaging department of Sunderland Royal Hospital has taken delivery of a Giotto full-field digital mammography unit from Southern Scientific Limited.

Manufactured by IMS Italy, a company solely dedicated to mammography, the Giotto is a two-in-one system.

With a 24 x 30cm amorphous Selenium2 detector providing extremely fast image acquisition times and high quality images, the system can be used as a conventional mammography unit for routine screening and symptomatic work.
