Addenbrooke’s chooses lightweight bi-layer apparel

The vascular surgery team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital has acquired Scanflex Opaque protective apparel that features a new technology bi-layer lightweight material called Kiarmor.

During measurements made by independent organisations including the National Physical Laboratory, bi-layer Kiarmor proved to be lighter and more flexible than any comparable material.

With the number of procedures performed under fluoroscopy more than tripling since 1996, medical workers’ risk of exposure to radiation has greatly increased.  Main theatre lead radiographer Rachel Clark said: “The lightness of Opaque apparel means the surgeons can work through the list in comfort and safety.
