AI-assisted MRI reduces scan times as part of Wycombe modernisation project

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has praised the robustness and reliability of its Canon Medical Vantage Orian 1.5T MRI at Wycombe Hospital in underpinning a major imaging modernisation project. The system is currently playing a ‘workhorse’ role in delivering continuous patient scanning as the trust updates its MRI equipment across the hospital sites.

“It’s an unusual time for us at the moment, running a single hospital MRI and temporary relocatable MRI unit, but we feel fortunate to have the Vantage Orian in place,” said deputy lead MRI radiographer Gemma Walsh. “It is providing fantastic all-round diagnostic support for MSK, neuro and cardiac workloads. Its resilience is really being tested and it has coped brilliantly with the additional volume of patients.

“The Vantage Orian promises advanced productivity and it doesn’t disappoint. Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE) deep learning reconstruction technology produces great images that are detailed and low in noise. This reduces scan times and produces valuable diagnostic images first time.”
