Derriford Hospital in Plymouth has installed a Xario XG ultrasound scanner, where it is located in its emergency gynaecology unit.

The ultrasound service – started in September 2009 – provides a one-stop emergency gynaecological assessment service that enhances patient care and reduces the need for potentially unnecessary wards admissions.

Nurse practitioner Rachel Richardson and gynaecology out-patient co-ordinator Pam Leaning, described the Xario as being “compact and user-friendly as well as providing images that are consistently of good quality.”
