Avanto upgrade for Royal Oldham

At Oldham Hospital with their newly installed Magnetom Avanto 1.5T MRI are senior radiographer Sue Clegg, radiology superintendent Andrew Green and site lead for radiology Dr. Samy Jeyagopal.

The Royal Oldham Hospital, part of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, has upgraded its imaging department with the installation of a Magnetom Avanto 1.5 Tesla MRI from Siemens Healthcare.  It replaces an old scanner and will increase the range of clinical applications the hospital provides.

Now patients living in Oldham will no longer have to make the journey to Rochdale Infirmary and Birch Hill Hospital or North Manchester General Hospital to receive advanced MRI scans.  The hospital expects up to 4,500 patients a year to benefit from the installation as it will be used for a range of examinations including general whole body scans, breast imaging, vascular imaging and, potentially, orthopaedic and neurological presentations.
