AXREM to raise profile of patient monitoring through focus group

AXREM’s first Patient Monitoring Special Focus Group meeting took place at the end of February at its London offices. AXREM is the UK trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment in the UK.

At the end of last year the association was approached by several patient monitoring companies to represent their sector. Following approval by the executive committee in December, the special focus group was launched.

AXREM chair Jeevan Gunaratnam commented: “Patient monitoring integrates across end-to-end care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. By creating opportunities for industry to cooperate with care providers and align across diagnostic and therapeutic pathways, we look forward to raising the profile of this
important sector.”

The association has already recruited new members from companies in the field, as well as among existing members. It has also engaged with NHS Supply Chain, which agreed to attend the first meeting.

AXREM director Sally Edgington added: “This is an exciting development for AXREM, and a natural progression of the areas we cover in diagnostics. As an association, we have worked hard over the last four years to widen our member offering and diversify the areas we present. It is testament to this work that the
patient monitoring companies felt we are the right trade association for them; able to offer an industry voice, member benefits and value for money.”
