Bake sale raises funds for brain tumour charity

Salford Royal Hospital has hosted a charity bake sale and raffle in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity and raised £384.  It was organised by senior radiographer Angela Frackleton who has worked with the charity as an ambassador since 2009 following the diagnosis of her father’s malignant brain tumour.

She said: “I usually organise a cake sale each year and an awareness display for the public in March as it is brain tumour awareness month.  Brain tumour research and support has previously been under-funded, so the charity works to help raise funds, awareness and support the families affected.  The cake sale was very successful; we even had our star baker Linda Mason who was presented with a trophy and gift.  Particularly this year I felt it was well-received as we had sadly lost two colleagues to brain tumours, so it was close to home.  The hospital also is specialises in neurosurgery so we frequently scan patients with brain tumours, and are in contact with their families.”
