Barnsley boosts its cardiac services

Radiology services manager Dave Houghton and consultant radiologist Dr R Vijay join medical imaging technical assistant Christopher Midgley, advanced practitioner Lorraine Sims and Toshiba account executive David Bibbs.

Barnsley Hospital has purchased a replacement x-ray system with mixed vascular and cardiac capabilities that will allow the hospital to expand its services.

The Toshiba Infinix VC-i versatile dual-track, ceiling mounted C-arm ensures head-to-toe and fingertip-to-fingertip coverage.  Direct right-left coverage enables a radial approach and easy imaging of off-centre anatomy.

Radiology services manager Dave Houghton explained: “As a medium-sized district general hospital, we were looking for a versatile C-arm unit that would meet the needs of our expanding interventional radiology whilst at the same time being able to deliver our diagnostic coronary angiography service.  We considered the equipment to be well-designed, engineered and easy-to-use both for radiographers and radiologists.”
