Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has installed its first echocardiography system dedicated to the care of children. It purchased a Philips iE33 system for use in its children’s outpatients department.
Unveiling the new system were medical director Dr Jugnu Mahajan and consultant paediatric cardiologist Dr Dominic Hares, who recently held his first clinic session with the equipment.
Matron for children’s services Denise Gibson said: “The arrival of the new echo machine is fantastic news for our patients. The system comes with the very latest technology and will allow us to diagnose heart problems quickly, efficiently and with a high degree of accuracy. Early diagnosis is extremely important with heart conditions and the new equipment will make a very important contribution towards helping us to achieve this for our patients.”
