Bayer will focus on tailored injection protocols at cardiovascular radiology meeting

Bayer is attending October’s European Society of Cardiovascular Radiology (ESCR) annual meeting in Glasgow and invites attendees to visit its booth to discuss how the Centargo Cardio applications service and Centargo’s cardiac-specific Smart Protocols can support imaging professionals in creating a tailored cardiac CT imaging practice to ensure quality results.
The clinical goal for CT contrast-enhanced examinations is to achieve diagnostic contrast enhancement in the target region of interest. Patient, contrast medium and scanner factors can all influence contrast enhancement. The most important patient factor affecting the quality of vascular and parenchymal contrast enhancement is body weight, as different weights can influence enhancement when using a fixed injection protocol. Bayer says a shift from fixed to personalised protocols could result in more consistent image quality.
While body weight is a key factor in CT imaging principles, other factors have an impact, such as contrast medium dosing factors, iodine delivery rates and even variable CT tube voltages. Bayer will discuss how today’s busy CT departments can realise the goal of individualising contrast protocols.
Also at this year’s ESCR, radiologist Dr Antonio Castellaccio from Hospital Universitario Nuestra Senora del Rosario, Madrid, Spain, will hold a Bayer-sponsored symposium titled ‘Advancing CCTA: clinical benefits of personalised protocols.’
A recording of Dr Castellaccio’s talk from Bayer’s Cardiac Imaging Masterclass in May 2025 can be found on the Radiology Hub, a promotional website hosted by Bayer.
