Beatson chooses supine breast boards

Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre has upgraded to eight Access Supine Breast Boards from Oncology Imaging Systems. The boards are a lightweight, one piece device designed to comfortably treat both breast and lung patients.
Head of therapy radiography Eithne MacPherson said: “We needed to replace our old breast boards due to wear and tear. The boards we were using were at least 15 years old and I was curious to see what was new to the market. Around 40 staff compared and assessed the available breast boards and decided upon the Qfix Access Supine board. Staff found that it was superior for patient comfort; the bottom stopper and the numerous headrest positioning options enabled a wider range of patient positions.
“The ability to use the Access board in conjunction with the ArmShuttle Elite wingboard provides another solution if patients have difficulty extending and abducting their arms. This solution offered excellent value for money and patients find it very comfortable therefore minimising the risk of patient movement.”
