Neuroradiology secretary Belinda McCorkell, theatre manager Peter Klein, Philips Healthcare district general manager Steve Tomkins, senior radiographer Caitlin Moore, consultant stroke physician Phil Thompson, Philips imaging systems account manager Barry Heathcote, senior radiographers Lewis Braund and Rufus Dummett, lead nurse for neurosciences and stroke Angela Jenkinson, consultant neuroradiologist Dr Panos Koumellis, senior radiographer Aishling Bray, superintendent radiographer Wendy Bates, junior charge nurse Andrew Barrowcliff, senior sister Lynne Muddle, Philips Healthcare project manager David Tolhurst and junior sister Tamara Lucas.

As part of the move of neurosurgery and neuro interventions from Hurstwood Park to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, a Philips Allura Xper FD20/15 neuro imaging system has been chosen. The installation will help to support neurovascular, stroke thrombectomy, spinal and trauma services in the Sussex region.  Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust is a major trauma centre and is the tertiary neuroscience referral centre for Sussex and parts of Kent and Surrey.

Lead superintendent radiographer neuro Liz Hall said: “The neuroimaging team was delighted with the installation of the Allura Xper FD20/15 in the centre’s new home in Brighton.   The team had previously used the single plane Allura Xper FD20, which had provided great reliability, ease of use and image quality; however, it needed replacing with a biplane system in order to support neuro interventions.”

“The new system has delivered on the expectations promised by Philips, with continued reliability, intuitive controls, software functions and excellent image quality, as well as a significant reduction in patient dose.  Philips completed the project on schedule and the equipment was handed over in time to support the move of neurosurgery to the Brighton Campus.”
