BIR stroke imaging meeting again proves very popul

The British Institute of Radiology last month hosted a very well attended “Imaging in Stroke – An Update” at the BIR’s headquarters on Portland Place, London.
Following the success and overwhelming response to a previous meeting in December 2009, the BIR organised a follow-up this year.
With the National Stroke Strategy and the government’s FAST’ campaign having been introduced last year, there is increased awareness of Stroke/TIA in the general population and there is a pressure to treat these patients in an appropriate and timely manner by the medical fraternity.
The meeting gave an overview of the National Stroke Strategy, the demand and expectations it places on the radiology departments across the country as well as the challenges and potential solutions.
Highlights included a talk by Dr Damian Jenkinson (Stroke Improvement Program) on the National Stroke Strategy along with Dr Anthony Maxwell (Royal Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) on Delivery of Stroke and TIA Imaging.
