Burns unit uses nerve blocking

Dr Ravindran uses the SonoSite S-Nerve at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford

Anaesthetists at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex, use SonoSite’s S-Nerve point-of-care ultrasound systems to guide a wide range of regional nerve blocks.

Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust has invested in three S-Nerve instruments for use in its numerous theatres, including the internationally-renowned St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns.

Consultant anaesthetist Dr Poopulli Ravindran has championed ultrasound-guided procedures at the hospital.  He explained “I first encountered ultrasound use in regional anaesthesia in 2002, and I was determined to introduce ultrasound-guided procedures here at Broomfield.”
