Canon Medical Arena offers multi-purpose sports and diagnostics centre for South Yorkshire

A multi-purpose sports facility with an integrated medical diagnostic centre in Sheffield has been officially named Canon Medical Arena. Formerly known as Park Community Arena, the facility is expected to create jobs, relieve diagnostic imaging backlogs on local hospitals, provide health appointments closer to patients’ homes and expand community access to affordable sports and entertainment. It will join a growing portfolio of health, wellbeing, sport, education and research institutions at Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.

Operated by The LivingCare Group, the medical diagnostic centre features advanced AI (Altivity) assisted CT and MRI scanners, ultrasound, digital x-ray, fluoroscopy, as well as consulting rooms and a minor surgery operating theatre. The sporting arena will have multi-sports courts, seating for 2,500 spectators, a fitness studio, function rooms and café. It will be the home of the Sheffield Sharks and Sheffield Hatters professional basketball teams.

Canon Medical Systems UK managing director Mark Hitchman said: “Canon Medical Arena is an exciting and unique investment in South Yorkshire to bring new positivity for residents, sporting organisations and businesses by fostering a fresh sense of community engagement.”
