Cardiovascular research unit opens

The new National Institute for Health Research Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust was opened by DoH director general of research and development Professor Dame Sally C Davies. It is a joint initiative with Imperial College London to research cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia coronary heart disease and heart failure. It features a Magnetom Skyra 3T MRI and an Artis zee system from Siemens Healthcare.
Director of the Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit Professor Dudley Pennell said: “It has been a privilege leading the development of the Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit. We have created state-of-the-art facilities to advance our research into many life-threatening and debilitating conditions.”
