Carpal tunnel clinic upgrades to better observe nerve structures

Consultant neurophysiologist Dr Jeremy Bland.
Consultant neurophysiologist at East Kent University Hospital Dr Jeremy Bland has purchased Esaote’s MyLab Twice ultrasound scanner with elastography, for a carpal tunnel syndrome clinic which runs three times a week in the neurophysiology clinic. Ultrasound is a useful diagnostic tool alongside nerve stimulation to clarify the presence and severity of CTS.
Dr Bland said: “The MyLab Twice allows extraordinary superficial nerve imaging when used in conjunction with the high frequency 22Mhz transducer. It is one of the very few systems that has extremely sensitive power Doppler for use in assessing vascularity in peripheral and median nerves.”
