Siemens Healthineers has received CE approval for its 7.0T Magnetom Terra MR scanner, making it the first ultra-high field MR scanner to be approved for clinical use. Clinicians in Europe can now use the system for neurological and musculoskeletal examinations in routine clinical applications.
“Thanks to our long-standing commitment and experience with ultra-high field MRI, as well as our extensive innovation network of collaborative partners around the world, we are now establishing 7.0T imaging in the clinical routine,” said senior vice president and general manager of MRI Dr Christoph Zindel. “Having now gained approval for clinical use, we are expanding the scope of diagnostic MRI 15 years after 3.0T scanners first became established.”
