Charity enables Bedford Hospital to add intraoperative C-arm

Vertec product specialist Keith Lakin, vice-chairman Bedford Hospitals Charity Dr Robert Oakley OBE DL, plastic surgeon Mr Tarek Eltantawy, chairman of Bedford Hospitals Charity Deborah Inskip DL and deputy director A&E and radiology Christian Kasmeridis.
Bedford Hospitals Charity has helped acquire a Hologic Fluoroscan intraoperative x-ray C-arm system, supplied by Vertec Scientific.
Vertec says the Fluoroscan fulfills a much-needed role in the modern hospital setting as it can legally be used by operating theatre staff after appropriate training, which is supplied by Vertec’s applications specialists. Plastic surgeon Mr Tarek Eltantawy finds this feature especially useful: “If we have an emergency at the weekend, the fact that we can use the Fluoroscan means we do not have to rely on scarce radiographic staff.”
